W.B. Green Choir

This past week, choir students at W.B. Green Junior High performed at the 2024 UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation. Our choirs received the following ratings:

1. Varsity Tenor-Bass Choir: SWEEPSTAKES

2. Non-Varsity Treble Choir: Superior Concert and Excellent Sight-Reading

3. Non-Varsity Tenor-Bass Choir: Excellent Concert and Sight-Reading

4. Varsity Treble Choir: Excellent Concert

During UIL, students are asked to perform at the highest musical level based on state standards. Students must display skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, and self-awareness. Such mastery makes this evaluation similar to assessments such as STAAR or end of year exams. From August to March, students and directors work tirelessly to ensure all choirs are equipped with the necessary tools and techniques to perform at a superior level. Although most students who join choir come in with little choral experience, by the end of the year, all students will have learned more than musicianship. In a choral setting, students will have acquired life skills such as self-discipline, creative expression, teamwork, and perseverance. We are extremely proud of our students and all of their accomplishments this year! Keep singing, Cubs and Cubettes!
