BeAnka Galan, Senior at La Feria Early College High School, signed her Letter of Intent to compete in softball at Alvin Community College, located in Alvin, Texas, a small town about 40 miles outside of Houston, Texas. Her passion for the sport started young, but it didn’t initially begin with softball, she explained, “I actually started playing baseball first, then when I was seven, I switched to playing softball. At first, I felt behind everyone else because they had more years of experience than I did. I soon caught up to everyone else.” BeAnka is proud to be a multi-position player, succeeding as a pitcher, third baseman and outfielder. Her true passion is for pitching, while it’s probably the most stressful of positions, she loves the thrill and pressure of the game.
For her senior year, it is her goal to win District and make it the most memorable time playing with her teammates. She grew up playing with a number of her current teammates, and knowing that this is the last year is bittersweet. BeAnka had the opportunity to visit the campus and she took serious consideration whether this was the right school for her or not. She expressed, “When I visited the campus, I felt comfortable, as if I was already part of the family. I’m really excited about this big change in my life. Starting a new adventure, moving far away... I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.” She is grateful for the endless support from her parents and she cannot thank them enough.
