When families and community organizations come together, they create a supportive network that enriches the lives of all members. Family engagement involves parents, guardians, and family members actively participating in their children’s education and community activities. Our Family and Community Engagement Coordinator, Mrs. Nancy Loredo, is very proud of her FACE Department family and the support she receives from the parents and guardians in the community and volunteers. “Everyone works as a team; the volunteers have been working very hard to put together the students’ educational booklets that are handed out during Literacy Nights,” she stated, an event that her department works hard to put together for the students and families. Mrs. Loredo expressed, “I am so grateful for my volunteers, without them I wouldn’t be able to organize these educational events. Last year, we started a new initiative, the Literacy Bus. It was an opportunity to bring education and literacy on the road for our students.” This La Feria ISD Literacy Bus provides the students with free books, they get to enjoy educational toys like building blocks that test their architecture and alphabetical skills, phonics cards, science and anatomy toys and more. She is excited about the new initiatives that are to come with the Literacy Nights and utilization of the Literacy Bus. The FACE Department has a number of events for the community in November, so please join us! This includes our campus Literacy Nights, the Diabetes Walk at the Lions Stadium, the Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Fair, Technology Night for our elementary campuses, and more… don’t miss out on what’s to come.
